Joyrambati, the small village is twenty-seven miles distant from Bishnupur in Bankura District. The places is two miles to the east of Shihar and three miles to the west ot Kamarpukur, the holy birthplace of Shri Shri Thakur.
The-humble vibes of this holy place convey the méssage of Dharma, Karma and Moksha. Shri Shri Sarada Devi, the spiritual consort of Bhagavan Shri Ramakrishna Paramhansa, was-born in Joyrambati.in’ 1853. Outwardly she presented herself as an ordinary. woman to the World for hiding her divine essence of ,nature. The veiling figure of the motherhood of God was truly an incarnation of wisdom, welfare and forgiveness. Atrue prophet of ihe modern age, Shri Shri Thakur was survived 34 years by the Holy Mother. The birthplace of the Mother and Guru of all disciples of Shri Shri Thakur has become a sacred place of pilgrimage for the people seeking eternal peace and Self- Purification
A lively white marble sculpture of the Holy Mother in ‘Dhyana Mudra’ is seated in this beautiful temple. Swami Saradananda dedicated this temple to the Holy Mother on the sacred day of Akshaya-Tritiya on 19th April, 1923 and the temple has been constructed exactly on the birthplace of her. Shri Shri Maa’s father, Shri Ramchandra Mukhopadhyaya had his original house here and the divine marriage between Shri Ramakrishna Paramhansa Dev and the Shri Shri Maa was arranged at this place. The Holy Mother is worshipped daily with appropriate ‘Bhog’ and rituals.
Maa Sarada lived in the Puratan Bari(old house) from 1863 to 1915. From the Holy Mother, many aspirants were blessed with Brahmacharya, initiation and Sannyaso in this dwelling place. On the other side, Maa started to worship Goddess Jagaddhatri here. Swami Saradananda choose a land on the western side of ‘Punyo Pukur’, a tank which is blessed with the name like this because of its regular use by Maa Sarada. A separate house, known as Nutan-Bari was built for providing better accommodation to the increasing number of devotees and the Holy Mother in 1915-16.
Amodar, the sacred rivulet is the place where the Holy Mother used to come for bathing with Golap Ma, Yogin Ma and other women devotees. Maa addressed the holy Amodar as the Ganga and spent much time on the banks in reading of the Chandi, Gita and in meditation as well. At present, there is a man-made bathing ghat on the spot where Shri Shri Maa used to take bath. Mayer Ghat is a bus stop near the temple and lies on the bank of ‘Mayer Dighi’ where Mother used to come to cut grasses in her girlhood.
The Holy Mother woshipped Maa Singhabahini. The Goddess and her two companions, Shri Mahamaya and Chandi are very much alive according to Shri Maa and devotees. One can feel a historical wave with spiritual sensation in this temple for sure
Shihar village is 3 km away from Joyrambati. Shri Hridayram Mukhopadhyaya, the dearest nephew ot Shri Shri Thakur lived here and a manuscript of Shri Chandi by Shri Ramakrishna is preserved here till now.
